Gibraltar Historical Museum

The City of Gibraltar is rich with history and it should be documented and kept here in the City for future generations.  The Gibraltar Historical Museum is still open for anyone interested in donating or loaning items, articles, pictures or anything pertinent to the history of Gibraltar. The museum is located on the 2nd floor of City Hall.

If you are interested in the history of Gibraltar and want to help preserve its heritage please contact Curator Dorothy Wood at (734) 675-9633 or City Clerk Cindy Lehr at (734) 676-3900.  If you would like to join the Historical Commission, contact City Hall at (734) 676-3900 for more information. 

The Gibraltar Rotary Club:

The Gibraltar Rotary Club meets every Wednesday morning at the Gibraltar Grill at 7:30 a.m. Dues are $30.00 per month, which helps to cover the cost of breakfast. Membership is open to anyone wishing to assist with service projects in support of our community. For more information, please call (734) 676-7774. 

Scholarships: The Gibraltar Rotary Club is offering educational scholarships to Gibraltar residents. Forms are available at City Hall and the Community Center. Eligible students must carry a 3.0 grade point average or higher, and be entering a university, college, or trade school. The deadline to submit the forms is in April (they can be returned to City Hall or the Community Center). For more information, please call (734) 671-1466. 

Girl Scouts, Brownies, and Cadets

Girl Scouts, Brownies, and Cadets are big in Gibraltar. For more information, please call (734) 775-4024

Venturing Boy Scouts of America:

Venturing Boy Scouts of America is a youth program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men who are 14 through 20 years of age. For more information, please call (734) 675-3087. 

Gibraltar Firefighters Association

Gibraltar Firefighters Association is part of the City Fire Department, they do many projects and offer programs such as Open House every October, and supports the local Boy Scout Troop in town, and in the past has sponsored a little league team. The Firemen are well trained and offer great dedicated service to the community.  Contact Deputy Fire Chief Bill Cain at (734) 676-3167.

The City Beautification Commission

The City Beautification Commission always needs volunteers both men and women. The Commission plans the projects and also does the work. All of the plants, flowers, decorating by the lighthouse, bridges, at the corner of Middle Gibraltar Road, are all the work that the commission put together. If you would like to volunteer for this commission application are at City Hall. Information (734) 676-3900.

The City Recreation Commission 

The City Recreation Commission always needs members for their input and direction of the City's Recreation programs for both children and adults. Interested persons can obtain an application at City Hall or for further information call (734) 676-3900.

Gibraltar Goodfellows

Gibraltar Goodfellows not only accept donation during the Holiday Season, but also provide service to those who are in need. If you know of anyone who needs assistance please contact one of the Goodfellows at this number (734) 676-1022.

Waterways Commissions

Meets the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:00 at City Hall. 

Planning Commission

Meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 at City Hall. 

Downtown Development Authority

Meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month immediately following the Planning Commission Meeting. 

Zoning Board of Appeals

Meets the last Tuesday of each month (if necessary) at 7:00 at City Hall.
