Gibraltar Historical Commission / Museum

The Gibraltar Historical Museum is run by the Gibraltar Historical Commission. The museum is located on the Second Floor of City Hall and is temporarily open by appointment only. The Historical Commission's mission is to identify, collect, preserve, promote and exhibit all historical items that support our heritage in the City of Gibraltar . The Historical Commission and Museum can be reached by email at .

Volunteers Needed : Volunteers from Gibraltar are needed to help clip newspaper articles, obituaries, etc. (newspapers are provided) and can be done anywhere. This volunteer would be at museum to greet visitors and answer phones, perform basic filing, and miscellaneous activities. People are also needed to help with the special fundraisers throughout the year. Contact Debbie Davenport at (734) 675-4453 or (734) 676-3900 and leave a message.

Commission Meeting: 2 nd Tuesday of the Month, 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. City Hall, Second Floor.

Museum Membership: Support our Community History! Join the Museum as a Member--$5 individual and $10 Family, $25 Corporate/Group yearly fees. The membership will provide a newsletter every three months and invitations to exhibits before they open to the public. It also provides your sponsorship of the educational programs we will provide to the community free of charge. Please show your support and request a membership form today. Contact the museum at (734) 676-3900 and leave your name, address, and phone number and we will drop one off or mail it to your home.

The City Beautification Commission

Meets the first Monday of each month at 7:00 at City Hall. Commissioners:  Florence Jagielski, Sharon Legault, Marilyn Peacock,  Dorothy Wood

The City Beautification Commission always needs both male and female volunteers. The Commission plans the projects and also does the work. All of the plants, flowers, and decorating by the lighthouse and bridges at the corner of Middle Gibraltar Road are the work that the commission puts together. If you would like to volunteer for this commission, applications are at City Hall. For information, call (734) 676-3900.

The City Recreation Commission

Meets the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 at the Community Center. Commissioners:  Michael Boyer, Yvonne Cancilliari, Debra Centerbury, Kim Casteel, Tamey Gorris, Patrice McAuliff, Deonna Pruett

The City Recreation Commission always needs input from all members on he direction of the City's Recreation programs for both children and adults. Interested persons can obtain an application at City Hall or call (734) 676-3900 for further information.
